Week 9 – Let Food be thy Medicine

This was an off week. The husband and I both didn’t feel good and even poor puppy Jane was sick (as in I now have to replace my carpet sick…gross).  A week of healthy, immunity boosting food was definitely in order. To help this, I also took a shot of apple cider vinegar mixed with water each morning.  Tastes gross but has some great health benefits! The skeleton shot glass seemed fitting for the nasty taste!

Breakfast

Smoothies and Cornflakes (Because nothing soothes an upset stomach like cornflakes!)

  • For the smoothies I mixed almond milk, spinach, frozen banana, blueberry, chia seeds and a little protein powder.
  • *Side note*  Another great use for apple cider vinegar is to rinse your produce.  It helps wash away anything you don’t want to eat and I swear it keeps produce fresh longer!

Lunch

    • Baby carrots, celery sticks and whole wheat pita bread

A week of good clean eating definitely helped get us back on track! Sometimes stress and life takes its toll and food truly can be your best medicine!

*NOTE* Don’t try to dry your baby carrots in the salad spinner.  I learned this the hard way by creating a massive carrot explosion. Jane didn’t mind 😉  Here she is sleeping off her carrot binge!
